3rd wave is a free and alternative art initiative

3rd wave art project is a free and alternative initiative which works for the production, discourse and presentation of contemporary art. It makes non-profit and is not established on corporate sponsorship. 3rd wave proposed to achieve; contributing by everybody’s accessibility to the contemporary art, in that way helping to meet the life and practice with artist from different disciplines. Where every kind of negativeness, pessimism and obstruction dominated nowdays, our aim is to set new goals to develop freely and above all, to make an attempt on improving the sensitivity to the art.

3rd wave initiative is a sharebased free platform oriented on production, exhibition, publication, achievement of communication and started by Gülderen Depas, Aygün Erkem, Sema Sakarya, Nurten Yıldırım on 05.02.2016.

3rd wave initiative organizes activities and meetings by offering a free and creative environment

3rd wave aims; by supporting interdisciplinary cooperations, to focuse on to be the meeting point of various artistic visions including social and cultural themes besides the personel production with the location at the centre of Izmir.

By organizing the performance, the projections of video and film, installation, exhibition, artist’s talks and interviews, leads up to contribute to the artist and art. Some reading groups and panels will be organized to discuss the thoughts and proposal of artist, curator, critics, writer, art historian, philosopher, activist and civil society volunteers. The target is to create a platform where art theories and contemporary art practices were discussed in a critical environment.

3rd wave is not a gallery, it is an atelier

It supports all kinds of interactive, participative projects, ateliers, experimental works and exhibitions. In other words, it supports every destructive/creative attempt throughout. It organizes exhibitions to support talent, distinctive, creative and dynamic artists without any age limit. The mission is to exhibit, publish and discuss the production of 3rd wave members and other artists who find no opportunity without having a worry for sale in a critical, sharing and free environment at their free art place. Without being obsessive, conservative and competitive against to the main power, it provides location and supports for freely imagined experiments and art productions. Believing in the fact that knowledge increases when shared, it tries to realize a platform where artists to discuss.
